Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) was a keynote speaker at the main meeting.  He discussed the value of the NAIFA members being in his home state of Iowa and protecting the many agricultural people there.  He is an advocate of the insurance industry and continuously promotes the efforts of NAIFA.

NAIFA Ohio members met with Representative Marcy Kaptur in her offices.  This includes Ohio  Board member Don Wiechart, Columbus member Jeremy Soditch, NAIFA Ohio President Mark Bauman and Cleveland chapter President Brett Ketvertis.

Mark Bauman and Brett Ketvertis meet with Representative Anthony Gonzales in his offices.

The main issues discussed with both of the Representatives included:

  1. The importance of the insurance industry to the State of Ohio.  With over 91,000 Ohioans employed in the insurance industry generating an investment of over $189 billion in Ohio, insurance is a vital part of our economy.
  2. Discussion of H.B. 1994 (SECURE Act).  This retirement plan bill would assure more savings opportunities for employees of small business by expanding multiple employer plans and pooling of resources to make the costs of administering retirement plans more affordable.
  3. Encouraging membership in the Congressional Financial Security Caucus to educate lawmakers about the ongoing need for public policy that encourages Americans to save more, plan ahead and protect their financial and retirement security.
